"From Wood to Music" aimed to document the entire journey — from selecting raw wood to crafting three musical instruments, collaborating with a composer and three musicians, and releasing a corresponding album, video, and booklet.

This work originated in a masterful meeting between two of the foremost performers in the world on the Oud, the stringed instrument that has a central place in classical Arabic music, played by Al Khatib, and the percussion instrument Tombak, which is used as a particular extent within older Iranian musical traditions, played by Mahmudiyan.

"Ya Dar" was written and composed by Ahmad Al Khatib in the past few years. As a result of the COVID pandemic and the enforced lockdown, Ahmad's longing for Palestine made him reach out to his Palestinian friends located in different parts of the world to come together (Virtually) and produce this emotionally charged Song.

Ahmad Al Khatib's "Suznak Rhapsody" is written for percussion and the Arabic lutan oud.
The project was commissioned by Swedish Radio P2 and was premiered in the opening ceremony of the Re:Orient festival Curious Classics Feb 2020.

The “Musiqana” website, sought to develop textual, audio and visual materials that were produced to serve music teachers and students in three areas: Maqamat and Taqasim, Oriental Takht and Percussion.
These materials were developed and recorded by the masters of Arabic music, namely the professors Ahmed Al Khatib, Charbel Rouhana, Khaled Mohamed Ali, and Youssef Hobeish.
